Why is this important?

Javon Gordon: "Different countries? We are all human beings...But at the end of the day, we are all just God’s people, there shouldn’t be criteria, there shouldn’t be segregation. It’s like, you in a Bentley, you in a Rolls Royce, and me in a Honda Accord driving down I-90. At the end of the day we’re all going to the same destination.

So like no matter where you come from, remember everything starts with a thought and a desire and a dream. And you believe you can do something? Go ahead and do it.

That’s why I say guidance is so important because I went through a lot of ups and downs, I made some mistakes, I made a lot of bad choices and that’s because of my lack of guidance. But you know when you come to America and you expect to have guidance, sometimes you don’t get the right guidance or you don’t get it at all.

But at the end of the day, everything that's happened hasn’t changed me from being a good person... So when I got to prison, I reflected on all the things that I’ve been through. And I asked myself, what is my purpose?

At the end of the day some people don't know what it’s like to struggle, be homeless, be hungry, don’t have nobody to have your back, and nobody to be loyal to. At the end of the day, when you go through bad relationships, your boyfriend cheats on you, friends that lie and betray you. People that you trust betray you. It changes you. You are a ship, you don't need an anchor. So drop the anchor, and try to keep sailing."
