FREE PENNSYLVANIA CUBAN WOMEN HELD IN YORK CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

13 Cuban women were transferred from Taylor Texas to York County Correctional facility due to Hurricane Harvey. These women have no criminal record and have passed their credible fear interview while asking for political asylum. These women have families waiting for them in the United States. ICE placed them in a regular correctional facilities no chance of getting out. York Correctional facility rents out space to ICE and releasing the women would cause a loss of rental space. THEY ARE AN ATM machine to York and Ice lease agreements.

In addition, Officer McPherson is refusing to hear the cases from their attorney Mitchell Laird. These women have been harrassed as detention officers have gone into the showers while they have been there.
They have been seen as they are using the restroom in their cell by a guard who doesn't announce himself as the regulations required. They have been threatened to keep quiet or they will be thrown into isolation for every complaint their attorney files on their behalf to the judge.

Why is this important?

These women have never been in prison and DO NOT have any criminal record. They don't speak English and when they speak up they are harrassed and threatened with isolation by detention officers. All they are asking is for parole so they can be represented legally in the immigration court in the state where their family lives and can prepare for in the right legal defense. They are are NOT dangerous to the community and there is NO fear of leaving the country prior to their immigration hearings due to the fact that they are asking for political asylum.
