In retaliation for their hunger strikes, ICE transferred the detainees -- one person was sent to the NorCor corrections facility and the others were sent to a detention facility in Arizona. At least one was held in solitary confinement for days. Please tell ICE that transferred is not forgotten!

Free the NWDC 3!
Release the #NWDC3 who were held in solitary confinement at the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) for over a week! Alex has been detained for over 7 months at the NWDC, where he went on hunger strike and was held in solitary confinement until transferred to the Florence Detention Center in Arizona. Manuel arrived to the US from El Salvador as an asylum seeker. He was detained for over 4 months at the NWDC where he was held in solitary confinement until transferred to the Florence Detention Center. While retaliation is against ICE's own rules, they were both threatened with transfers for protesting human rights abuses.
Why is this important?
On August 4th, 2017, GEO guards placed 20 people in solitary confinement because they were protesting a guard assaulting Omar. When detainees yelled at the guard to stop, GEO accused them of "rioting" and placed them in solitary confinement. Over 15 people immediately went on hunger strike, and the NWDC 3 passed the 72 hours mark that ICE recognizes (before this, they were "refusing meals"). After day 5 of hunger strike and facing threats of force feeding and getting weaker due to the lack of food, the 3 decided to stop... for now. Tell ICE & GEO that we will not tolerate guard retaliation, and demand that the NWDC 3 be released immediately! We should not wait for whistleblowers to go on hunger strike for their call to end inhumane conditions. Geo and ICE have created a hostile and violent living environment to end their organizing, their resistance and their call to the public to demand and end to this nightmare.
