Keep the Game Beautiful – Protect The Fans

1. Stop ICE in Our Communities: Implement a Moratorium on ICE Operations during the World Cup.

Immigrant communities in the U.S. already live under constant fear of deportation and detention, fueled by the Trump administration’s aggressive escalation of cruel immigration enforcement. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons has already publicly stated that the agency plans to “play a key part” in “ensuring security” for the tournaments.

We need to ensure that all fans, whether they’re watching in the stadiums, at their favorite local bars, or in their Tio’s living room are safe to join in on the joyful experiences of the World Cup. We demand an immediate moratorium on all ICE raids immigration enforcement operations during the World Cup. Our leaders must ensure the safety of fans, families, and all those who make fútbol what it is.

2. Lift the U.S. Travel Ban on Qualified Nations: Haiti, Iran, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal

Countries like Haiti, Iran, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal have earned their place in this year’s tournament. Right now, discriminatory restrictions are stopping their fans and supporters from participating fully in this historic moment.

For the first time in over 50 years, Haiti’s national soccer team is returning to the World Cup.  Iran has already appeared in the World Cup six times, with their current seventh marking their fourth consecutive qualification. Côte d’Ivoire joins this year after a historic qualification round where they did not concede a single goal in 10 matches. Senegal returns for the fourth time after debuting in 2002, where they won their opening match.

The U.S government’s unjust travel ban upholds a legacy of systemic racism and also blocks international fans and families from participating in what should be a time of national pride. With 75% of the 2026 World Cup games being played in the U.S. host cities, these xenophobic policies shut the door on entire communities and deny them the dignity and joy of supporting their home countries on the world stage.

Fans from these nations should be welcomed to rally behind their teams, celebrate their culture, and stand alongside their fellow soccer fans as equals.

We call for an immediate lifting of travel bans and restrictions for these nations to ensure that the spirit of the World Cup is upheld as we come together across borders to celebrate the beautiful game.
_______

Join us in demanding that the 2026 FIFA World Cup be a moment that uplifts our communities, not a time of fear or exclusion.

Why is this important?

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to be the largest sporting event in North America’s history, played across an entire continent for the first time. This moment can’t belong to the people– the fans, families, and whole communities who make fútbol beautiful– if they are forced to live in fear, targeted by surveillance, and excluded by cruel policies that threaten their existence.

Right now, the Trump administration is actively endangering the safety of immigrant communities and undermining the chance for all fans to take part in this historic moment. By escalating reckless ICE operations targeting immigrant workers and communities and imposing a racist, unjust travel ban on Haiti, Iran, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal, this administration is turning what should be a moment of joy and connection into one of fear and exclusion.

These policies go directly against the spirit of the game behind the World Cup, a game that belongs to the people.
