Our People Are Dying In Prison: End Medical Neglect Now!

Charles L. Ryan, there is blood on your hands of the countless stories of death, abuse, and neglect inside your prisons. Richard Washington, a Black 68-year-old, is the second case since 2017 of an incarcerated person inside Florence Prison who filed complaints to the United States District Court raising concerns about his medical neglect and warning of the risk of death before actually dying in custody last week.
Time and time again people of color who are incarcerated get dehumanized, severely traumatized and live in risk of dying inside of a prison. Mr. Washington’s death must not go in vain. Thousands more just like him find themselves in an abusive environment that puts their livelihood at risk. We must denounce this treatment and demand an independent investigation into Mr. Washington’s death and medical care inside the Department of Corrections. Sign this petition now to demand the following:
Demands:
1) Independent Investigation that looks into medical neglect inside Florence Prison.
2) Release of all documents pertaining to the medical care records of Mr. Richard Washington.

Why is this important?

Mr. Washington claimed in his filing that the corrections agency was actively refusing to give him medication for his medical conditions, including “diabetes, liver conditions, and blood pressure issues.
Six weeks after he filed a court document claiming that he was “being killed” due to inadequate medical care he died of health complications. Mistreatment inside Arizona prisons must not be ignored our people are suffering inside these cages. We must denounce this treatment and demand an independent investigation into Mr. Washington’s death and medical care inside the Department of Corrections.
