Release Jose Garcia from ICE custody
We are signing this petition for the release of Jose Luis Garcia from ICE custody. He has been a Legal Permanent Resident in the United States since 1988. His one and only conviction was in 2001 for domestic violence (Domestic dispute), and he has completed all requirements pertaining to this conviction. This single conviction does not make him removable or inadmissible under any immigration law. Despite this ICE still targeted Mr. Garcia and he is currently detained at the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange, California. Mr. Garcia is scheduled for a bond hearing on June 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at 300 N Los Angeles, CA 90014.
Why is this important?
It is important because Mr. Garcia, like many other immigrants, are being targeted by ICE over their past criminal convictions and being detained without any justification. It is a careless act of the Trump Administration enforcing ICE agents to detain individuals like Mr. Garcia who contribute greatly to the community of Los Angeles. Mr. Garcia is a husband, father, and a grandfather to an active military member. Please consider signing this petition to help facilitate Jose Luis Garcia's release from ICE custody.
